Legendary Zimbabwean
jazz musician Oliver Mtukudzi was honored with a memorial service at the
Johannesburg Theater today.
Dozens of
well acclaimed South African artists came out in their numbers to pay homage to
the artist. Ringo as well as Vusi Mahlasela whom have recorded songs with Tuku
as he was affectionately known were amongst the artists in attendance.
In
attendance were also Oliver’s daughters.
The “Neria”
hit-maker was remembered not only for his love for the guitar but also for the
impact that he made both locally and internationally in the music industry.
The 66 year
old died of diabetes and was laid to rest
